HD video installation, 6 min loop, 5.1 surround sound
Challa brings together personal, Jewish and western symbols and myths, to evoke basic human conditions. The piece was constructed from 4256 still images, depicting a five hours process of a Challa bread rising in an oven.
The sound for the installation was created in collaboration with Rio Ikeshiro. This is a multi-channel soundtrack, specialized in relation to the screen, to suggest different readings of the video according to the viewer’s position, e.g. sounds from the front correspond with the visible movements on screen, and those from the rear, with the unconscious sensations the video may evoke.
