( If a Man Screams in the Forest)
Action documentation, Rivoli 59, Paris
Rivoli 59 is an artist residency located in the heart of Paris. Each afternoon, the space opens its doors to visitors, inviting them to engage with contemporary art. I had the pleasure of spending half a year there in 2015, developing participatory artworks. When guests entered my studio, I invited them to engage in a series of interactive pieces, Un Homme Qui Crie Dans La Forêt was one of them.
“…random visitors were invited to go out to the balcony and scream at the top of their lungs. The documentation of the couple who volunteered to take part in the work reaffirms the moment of scream—the moment of their consent to be exposed, to emit a sound from the depths, to be vulnerable, ridiculed, free and liberated…”
